Write M's on five or six different index cards and other letters on several more. Have the children stand in front of you. Show them the cards one at a time. K Sorting Materials Needed: Index cards Marker Pictures with K items (optional) Directions: Write upper and lower case K's on 10 (5 of each) on index cards Mix up the index cards Have the children sort the cards into two piles (upper case and lower case K's) You could add pictures of K items to the cards for more practice with the letter. This is a great fine motor skills activity and really fun for the children. You can cut up a bunch of different fruit (kiwis and kumquats would be good for this too). You can also have the children cut the fruit with plastic knives if they have the skills to do so. Provide the children with wooden skewers and allow them to push the different fruit onto it. Items that could go in a J Mystery box! jacket jack-o-lantern jam jar jellybeans juice jump rope Jellyfish in a Jar Materials Needed: Small clear plastic bag Water bottle Water Blue food coloring Scissors String Hot glue gun Directions: Cut the plastic bag into a square Create a little pouch in the middle of the square and tie it with the string like a balloon to make a "head" Cut the remaining plastic around the tied string into strips to make tentacles Fill the bottle with water and add some food coloring Pour a little bit of water in the "head" and push the jellyfish into the bottle Secure the cap with hot glue Allow the children to explore the jellyfish More Fun J Ideas:

Pour the paint on the paint tray. Pass out H's to each child (or have a helper pass them out for you) Allow the children to stamp heart shapes all over their H's H-I-P-P-O Here's an animal you should know, H-I-P-P-O. Hula Hoop Toss Materials Needed: Paper plates Markers Hula hoop Directions: Pass each child a paper plate. Allow them to decorate their plates however they wish with the markers. Place the hula hoop on the ground (inside or outside). Allow the children to toss their paper plates into the hula hoop. Secure the lid. Give the bottle to the children. Allow them to shake it up and see what color it changes to. G Snacks Set up a snack time for the children with foods that start with G.
