Video: Signed Alphabet07/12/2015
Sign language basics are varying. Some teachers start by teaching the alphabet or numbers 1-20 to their students. This is not the necessary way to teach sign language, but they are essential elements of the language. This chapter will focus on alphabet, numbers, and basic phrases as well as the elements that are related to these categories. The signed alphabet is a vital part of American Sign Language. This is a complete alphabet consisting of signs for all of the letters of the English alphabet. It is highly recommended that you follow along with the video and practice the signs while watching it. You may print or save the handout below for reference. Sign along with the videos to practice your skills! Feel free to pause, rewind, and replay as often as you’d like. |
