Snow Songs, Poems & Action Rhymes

Counting Snowflakes
by Debbie Hasbrook

One little snowflake landed on my nose,
Two little snowflakes floated to my toes.
Three little snowflakes, made it to my hat,
Four little snowflakes melted just like that.
Five little snowflakes made my coat glitter.
I love to play with snowflakes,
When they visit me in winter.

Snowflake Rhyme
If you try to catch a snow flake.
It may linger on your finger.
But only for a second
As it soon will melt away.

Yummy Snowflakes
by Debbie Hasbrook

In the winter when it starts to snow,
I do something just for fun.
I tilt my head back as far as it goes,
and catch snowflakes on my tongue.
Snowflakes don’t really taste like much,
And they don’t fill your tummy.
When they land they’re cold to the touch,
So for me they are awfully yummy.

I Love Winter
by Debbie Hasbrook

I love winter, with mittens, hot chocolate and snow.
In my warm coat, woolen socks outside I like to go.
When the snow is deep enough, I make an angel of snow.
I spread my wings, and wiggle my legs.
Then home again I go.

I’m a Snowball
by Debbie Hasbrook

I’m a snowball, round and white.
Someone rolled me
And patted me tight.
If my friends were snowballs,
Together we could stand.
Three balls oh so tall,
As a friendly Snowman

Chubby Little Snowman
author unknown

A chubby little snowman,
(Hold hands out to demonstrate "chubby.")

Had a carrot nose.
(Point to nose.)

Along came a bunny,
(Hop like a bunny.)

And what do you suppose?
(Shrug shoulders; hold out hands, as if to question.)

That hungry little bunny,
(Rub stomach.)

Looking for his lunch.
(Hold hand above eyes, as if searching for something.)

Ate that snowman's carrot nose,
(Pretend to eat.)

Nibble, nibble, crunch!!

Snowey Pokey
author unknown

You put your right mitten in, You take your right mitten out,
You put your right mitten in and you shake it all about.
You do the Snowey pokey and you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about.
Note continue with additional verses:
You put your left mitten in
You put your scarf in
You put your right boot in
You put your left boot in
You put your hat in
You put your snowself in

The Winter Song
author unknown
Sing to tune of "Farmer in the Dell"

Let's sing a winter song,
Let's sing a winter song,
The days are short, the nights are long.
Let's sing a winter song.
The winter wind is cold,
The winter wind is cold,
It freezes noses, ears, and toes.
The winter wind is cold.
Winter now is here,
Winter now is here,
Put on your coat, your hat, your gloves,
Winter now is here.

Play in the Snow
author unknown

The day is cloudy and the wind is bold. Dress up warmly, you mustn't get cold!
Put on your coat and zip it up tight, put on your left boot, put on your right.
Put on your scarf and put on your hat, put on your mittens and clap-clap-clap!
Go outside and play and play. Come in again, and then we'll say-
Take off your coat that was zipped up tight, take off your left boot, take off your right.
Take off your scarf, take off your hat, take off your mittens, and then take a nap!

(Act out each line, indicating the various body part the article belongs on)

The Snowman
author unknown

I made a great tall snowman
With two huge coal black eyes
And just to reach around his neck
Took two of Daddy's ties.
I put a hat of mother's
Upon his rounded head
And then I ran and left him
And hurried off to bed.
When I awoke next morning
Imagine my surprise
My snowman had run away
And left his hat, ties, and eyes!
