Procedure:
- In an appropriate area, invite children to draw on the coffee filter using markers.
- When they are finished, spray the coffee filter with the children to show them the new “tie-dye” technique.
- Allow their work to dry.
- Cut the coffee filter into a heart shape and string along the room to showcase the children’s artwork.
Assessment:
- Observe and record the children as they are creating. How are their fine motor skills developing? Are they able to control the marker and draw?
Note: Please provide appropriate supervision to the children in your care when completing all activities. You will need to decide what types of activities are safe for the children in your care. Appropriate and reasonable caution should be used when providing art and sensory experiences for children. Toddlers require special caution, only use non-toxic materials, and do not allow toddlers to put things in their mouths that are a choking hazard.
