Leaves Songs, Poems and Action Rhymes
The Lonely Leaf Rhyme
by Debbie Hasbrook
Leaf was left alone high up in the tree,
When leaf looked down she could see all her friends beneath.
Leaf was getting lonely with no one left to play,
She waited for the wind to come and send her on her way.
Then a gust of wind blew her down now she could join her friends,
They were all so happy, to be together once again.

Counting Falling Leaves
by Debbie Hasbrook
I am a mighty oak tree, (Stand up straight and tall)
My arms are filled with leaves. (Hold up your arm with your fingers apart.)
When autumn comes they all fall off,
How many can there be?

Dancing Leaves
by Debbie Hasbrook
Lying underneath a tree,
on a summer day.
I watch the leaves dance and sway,
As the wind blows on its way.

A Leaf Pile
by: Unknown
I like to rake the leaves in fall (pretend to rake leaves)
And pile them in a clump (make piling motion with hands)
Then step back a little way (take few steps back)
Bend my knees and jump! (bend knees and jump)

Five Little Leaves
by: Unknown
Five little leaves up in a tree (hold up five fingers)
One little leaf said, "look at me!" (hold up one finger)
The leaf let go and down he fell (palms down to ground)
Now he doesn't feel so well (rub bumped head)

Five Leaves
by: Unknown
Five little leaves so bright and gay,
Were dancing about on a tree one day.
The wind came blowing through the town,
And one little leaf came tumbling down.
(Continue with 4 leaves, then 3, 2, & 1. Hold pictures of leaves or real leaves and drop them.)

Four Autumn Leaves
by: Unknown
(Flannel story)
Four Autumn Leaves
In a big old tree
One blew away
And then there were three
Three little leaves
With nothing to do
Another blew away
And then there were two
Two little leaves
In the Autumn sun
One blew away
And then there was one
Being all alone
Wasn't much fun
The last on blew away
And then there were none.
(Cut out 4 leaf shapes out of flannel. Use fall colors.)

The Leaves on the Trees
by: Unknown
Sing to tune of "The Wheels on the Bus"
The leaves on the tree turn orange and red,
orange and red, orange and red.
The leaves on the trees turn orange and red,
All through the town.
The leaves on the trees come tumbling down,
tumbling down, tumbling down.
The leaves on the trees come tumbling down.
All through the town.
The leaves on the ground go swish, swish, swish,
Swish, swish, swish.
The leaves on the ground go swish, swish, swish,
All through the town.

I like to make a pile of leaves,
And jump and tumble around.
I like to hear the dry leaves,
They make such a crunchy sound.

Falling Leaves
by: Unknown
Sing to tune of "London Bridges Falling Down"
Pretty leaves are falling down, falling down, falling down.
Pretty leaves are falling down, all over town.
Some are orange and some are brown, some are brown, some are brown.
Some are orange and some are brown, watch the leaves fall down.
Some are yellow and some are red, some are red, some are red.
Some are yellow and some are red, leaves fall on my head.
