Walking down the hallway I heard a great racket coming from the Pre-K room. Wondering what was happening I opened the door to see the children crawling around the room laughing as they followed their teacher who was also crawling around on the floor. I shut the door and smiled. If you have fun, your students will have fun too. So often we get in a rut with the day to day activities of the classroom, and forget to have fun with the children Have you ever noticed that when you are having a good time the time seems to fly by? Have you ever watched the clock wondering if the day would ever end? Children feel the same way.
When you are setting out food sing “Apples and Bananas” only insert the foods you are setting out. When you move the children from place to place or activity to activity sing and dance along your way. When you read a book to the children use funny voices and facial expressions. If you set out an activity don’t just walk away, engage in the activity with a child or group of children. Plan for activities outside and be active with the children! It is too easy to just monitor and watch over the children as if they were a herd of sheep.
Fun creates endorphins; endorphins make you happy, happy children make for a positive classroom experience. Have Fun! |
