Materials:

Procedure:
- Set out materials in an appropriate area.
- Invite children to create a way to prevent an egg from breaking when it is dropped from high above.
- When their designs are complete, drop the eggs.
- Have a discussion time with the children after the activity.
- You can ask questions like:
- What techniques seemed to prevent the egg from breaking? What ones do you think didn't works so well. Why?
- What would you do differently in your design next time?
Assessment:
- Observe and record how the children created their design. What materials did they use? Did they have any special/unique approaches?

STEM Activities To Use In Your Program
The Five Senses: Touching
Touching allows us to distinguish fine details our other senses miss. We use our sense of touch to manipulate tools to help us communicate and create.
Activity to try: Assemble bags of a variety of small items such as beans, sand, mulch, leaves, top soil, (yogurt or similar for the brave); etc. Have children plunge their hands into the bags of stuff. Ask them a variety of questions to stimulate creative thinking:
