Winter Lesson Plans

National Read Across America Day will be observed on March 2, 2015!

March 2 is Dr. Seuss’s birthday and in honor of his birthday spend your day celebrating reading! Have an un-Birthday party for Dr. Seuss!

Activity:  
Lorax Craft I (The Lorax)

Materials: 
  • Paper plate
  • orange and yellow construction paper
  • orange paint and paintbrush
  • glue
  • markers
  • The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss (available from Amazon - see below)

Procedure: 
Paint back of paper plate orange. Let dry completely. (If short on time, you can use a large orange construction paper circle) Cut strips of paper about 1 inch thick for arms and legs. Fold the papers accordion style and glue into place for arms and legs. Trace hands onto yellow paper and cut out. Glue with thumbs going toward top of paper plate. Cut out two yellow eyebrows and glue to plate. Glue on googly eyes. Add a nose and mouth with markers.
