Pinecone Turkey Painting

Children will:

EALR 1: The student understands and applies arts knowledge and skills in dance, music, theatre, and visual arts.
Materials:

Procedure:
- Place a blank piece of paper inside the empty box.
- Have the children pick out what colors they would like to use, and squeeze paint onto the pinecone.
- Place the pinecone into the box, and show the children how to tilt the box to make the pinecones roll around, leaving a print behind.
- Have the children practice tilting the box on their own.
- Remove the paper and allow to dry.
- Have the children cut the paper into a circle to create the feathers of the turkey.
- They can use regular brown construction paper and googley eyes to complete their turkey.
Assessment:
- What did the children have to say about their work? Did they use the new vocabulary that was presented in the lesson as they were talking?
