Procedure:
Bend a piece of paper into the cardboard tube. Add in a few drops of desired paint along with the marbles. Secure the lid using the tape to prevent the child from opening the tube. Introduce the tube to the child, showing them how to make noise by shaking it. Allow the child to create for several minutes. **Be sure to monitor child during the entire activity. When they are finished, remove the lid and piece of paper. Allow the paper to dry and then cut it into leaf shapes. These leaves can be strung or hung around your classroom to decorate for fall.
Assessment:
- Observe and record the child’s gross motor skills. How did they go about shaking the tube? What was their reaction to the new way of creating? Be sure to take pictures and put them with the finished piece.

Mouse's First Fall (Classic Board Books) Board book
July 20, 2010 by Lauren Thompson (Author), Buket Erdogan (Illustrator) It is autumn and Mouse, accompanied by Minka, a larger rodent wearing a pink jacket, go out to play. As they enjoy the day, Mouse learns about leaves, their colors and shapes, and the fun that comes from piling them up and jumping in them. When Minka hides in the heap, Mouse is confused, but readers will quickly see her tail curling above the fallen foliage. Bright hues evoke the season and realistically show the leaves in all their variety. Swirling brushstrokes and texture add interest to the paintings.
