Snow Day Sensory Play

When the temperatures outside are too cold to or you have a child with special needs that is unable to safely be outside in the snow bring the snow inside!

Snow Day Sensory Play

Materials: 

• snow
• sensory table, plastic bin or big bowl
• optional: mittens, spoons, ice cream scoopers, muffin tins, cookie sheet or pizza pan, water colors and paintbrush, cookie cutters, cars, plastic animals, etc...

Procedure: 

• paint snow with watercolors
• use cookie cutters to cut-out snow shapes
• make snow muffins in muffin tins
• make snow cones
• play ice cream parlor
• make an animal habitat
• make a snowy car track
• build an igloo or ice castle
• build little snowmen

*The ideas are endless! Children will open up their imaginations and have plenty of ideas to make an Indoor Snow Day so much fun!

Note: Please provide appropriate supervision to the children in your care when completing all activities. You will need to decide what types of activities are safe for the children in your care. Appropriate and reasonable caution should be used when providing art and sensory experiences for children. Toddlers require special caution, only use non-toxic materials, and do not allow toddlers to put things in their mouths that are a choking hazard. ​​​
