Materials:

Procedure:
- Prepare for the activity by removing the husk from the corn.
- Place the corn in the pan and fill with water until the cob is covered half way up.
- Ask the children for any predictions about what they think will happen to the corn.
- The children will use their observation worksheets to record any change in the cob.
- The children will record every other day.
- After the final day of the experiment, discuss the results with the children.
Assessment:
- Review the observations sheets. Did children attempt to take accurate observations of what happened to the Indian corn?

Supplies:
· Pumpkin Shape cut-out · Construction paper · Glue · Scissors · Various art supplies such as yarn, foamies, buttons, googly eyes, colored pencils, crayons, etc… Instructions: Read aloud Shoo, Crow! Shoo! by Dana Meachen Rau and Illustrated by Mary Galan Rojas. A story of a boy and girl working together to build a pumpkin head scarecrow. Let children use their imagination to create a scarecrow with a pumpkin head. Children that have difficulties cutting may need precut pieces of construction paper. |
