Objectives:  
Children will:
  • walk, run and/or jump in a developmentally appropriate manner.
  • show good sportsmanship with other children.

  • Component 1.1: Develops motor skills and movement concepts as developmentally appropriate.
    • 1.1.1 Demonstrates mature form in locomotor skills that contribute to movement proficiency.
Materials: 
  • candy canes
Procedure: 
  • Hide candy canes all around an outdoor space.
  • Encourage the children to find as many as they can.
Assessment: 
  • Observe and record the children’s gross motor skills. Did they walk, run, and/or jump with proficiency?

Candy Cane Scavenger Hunt

Supplies:
  • Candy Canes
  • ​Pieces of paper with clues

Create a list of clues to locate hidden candy canes. Leave a clue with each candy cane that will help the children find the next missing candy cane. To start the game give the children a clue to find the first missing candy cane. When the children finish their scavenger hunt let them enjoy their candy cane.
