Procedure:
- Create the snowman bottle by cleaning the inside and removing any stickers or labels.
- Draw a face on the bottle along with buttons using the permanent markers and/or small cotton balls.
- You can use a small piece of orange paper for the nose.
- Pop the cap open and show the children how to insert the cotton balls into the bottle.
- Allow the children to try it on their own.
Assessment:
- Observe and record the children’s fine motor skills. Were they able to use a pincer grasp to insert the cotton balls into the container? Take photos of the activity as documentation as well.
Note: Please provide appropriate supervision to the children in your care when completing all activities. You will need to decide what types of activities are safe for the children in your care. Appropriate and reasonable caution should be used when providing art and sensory experiences for children. Toddlers require special caution, only use non-toxic materials, and do not allow toddlers to put things in their mouths that are a choking hazard.
