Sailboat Sensory Bin

Procedure:
- Create the boats that will go in the sensory bin by cutting the pool noodle into small circles.
- Cut the straws into 3 to 4 inch pieces.
- Cut the foam sheets into triangles.
- Place the straws into the noodle.
- Cut small holes into the foam triangles and place them on the straws to act as the sail.
- Fill the bin with water.
- Add a few drops of blue food coloring.
- Add the noodle boats.
- Introduce the bin to the children.
- Play with them while introducing new vocabulary words.
Assessment:
- Observe and record the children’s reaction to the water. Did they attempt to repeat any new vocabulary words back to you?
Note: Please provide appropriate supervision to the children in your care when completing all activities. You will need to decide what types of activities are safe for the children in your care. Appropriate and reasonable caution should be used when providing art and sensory experiences for children. Toddlers require special caution, only use non-toxic materials, and do not allow toddlers to put things in their mouths that are a choking hazard.
