A fairy tale is a type of fictional story that typically features folkloric creatures (i.e., elves, goblins, witches, giants, etc.) and fantastical events. These stories have been around for centuries and have been told and retold over and over. Cinderella alone is over a thousand years old and has over 700 versions from countries around the world! Most of us grew up listening to these stories, and they have become deeply embedded into our language and culture. Although not originally intended for children, fairy tales have evolved so much that now the content and themes presented in them can be enjoyed by all ages.
