Our Classroom Book Materials Needed: Camera Printer Paper Glue stick Stapler or string Contact paper or laminating paper Directions: Take a picture of each child in the classroom, and teachers Print off each picture and add it to a piece of paper Cover it with contact paper or laminate them Bind the book together with a stapler or string Read the book to the children in the classroom **Note** Each new student should be added to the book within their first week Create Your Own Police Hat This is a fun and easy way to make a Police Officer hat. Print out and color the template (see below). We colored the template, glued the pieces together and made a band using white paper, and glued the template to the middle of the band. We then measured the child's heads, and taped the bands so that they fit snugly. Examine Your Own Fingerprints To make our fingerprints, we first traced our hands on a piece of white paper. We then used an ink pad, and made fingerprints on corresponding with the finger outlines. Once dry, we began our investigation with magnifying glasses. Firefighter Pal Materials Needed: Paper cup Black paint Red and black construction paper Glue Two wiggly eyes Back pen Directions: Cut out two ear shapes using the black construction paper Cut out a tongue shape and draw a black line down the middle Glue your ear shapes, tongue shape and wiggly eyes to your paper cup Once they are dry, use your black paint to paint on spots for your Dalmatian. Make Your Own Firefighter Hat We painted a paper plate red, and allowed it to dry. Once dry, we used an exact-o knife to cut out a ring 3/4 of the way around the inside the plate. Then folded the center up to create the front of the hat. We then printed out the shields (seen below), colored them yellow, cut them out, and glued one to the front of out hat. The others we used to make badges and affixed them with rolled scotch tape. Police Car Hand Print Materials Needed: Scissors Black paint Paper Markers Directions: Help the children paint their hand black and make a hand print on a piece of paper. Provide art supplies for them to complete their police car.
